CAMERA, DVR and MONITOR: THE POWER THREE OF SECURITY SYSTEM

Security cameras have been effective deterrents to thieves. Whether they have Digital Video Recorder (DVR) or not, they successfully become a part of security maintenance and monitoring purposes of a certain area. Wired security camera has been used for several years and greatly proved its help to people. However, because of its price range and the hassle of connecting it to the video recorder or monitor, a cheaper and less complicated version of this gadget was created – wireless security camera. Because it is more technologically advanced, easier to install and has bigger price-cut, people immediately embraced this type of camera.

WIRELESS SECURITY CAMERA SYSTEM COMPONENTS

For the wireless security camera system to fully operate, you must successfully comply the following requirements. Assessing each component will assure security on your premises and lessen risks of system failure.

1. Wireless Camera

Choose a camera that employs CCD technology, constructs videos and images with colors, and provides a resolution of at least 500(H) x 500(V) pixels. Moreover, it is also good to select a camera that has Infrared Lens allows the camera to see and fully work in total darkness. Look for a camera that has at least 20 LEDS and more than 10 meters night vision range. Aside from having night vision, it would also be good to choose a camera that has a very low lux rating since it permits the camera to capture better and clearer images and videos even in low light conditions.

2. Receiver

This component receives the image and video signal and converts them into a format suitable for your monitors. If the given receiver has the capacity to store images and videos, it is called a DVR (Digital Video Recorder). DVRs usually have a 1GB memory capacity.

Receivers may have more than one channel – meaning, it can receive channels from more than one camera! However, having more cameras channeled to a single receiver can falter the quality and quantity of images and videos because of the signal and noise interaction that comes with the video and images.

3. Monitor

Usually, home televisions are used to see the captured videos and images by the camera. They are connected to the receivers with cables; nonetheless, they do not have to be always connected to the receiver. Cameras that don’t have receivers come with small screen battery operated monitors that also act as direct receiver of what has been captured by security cameras. Aside from that, you can also use your computer as monitor as long as the signal generated by the receiver is compatible to your PC computer format.

Technology was created for man, and not man for technology. It is therefore important to complete the following requirements, assess performance and malfunctions, and to always look over how the system works. Do not solely rely on what the gadgets can do. Be sure to do your part. Because the performance of the system, will always depend on how the owner operates it.
